When our clients purchased their home, they faced challenges that many owners of older houses face: the old craftsman-style house had awkward circulation, not enough storage, and dark and cramped living spaces.
We used some simple moves - like shifting and widening doorways and adding built-in millwork - to make a huge difference to the functionality of the whole home.
Beautiful and functional choices in the kitchen created a brighter, more connected space. A tall pantry cabinet provided ample storage, and a widened doorway allowed a seamless flow between the kitchen and dining room.
A built-in banquette transformed the tight dining room into a generous space (plus lots of storage beneath the seat). The custom leather cushions were both comfortable and easy to clean - important for a family with a young toddler.
In the living room near the entry, we added custom built-in’s to carve out a functional entry vestibule. Thoughtful space planning transformed an underused, awkward corner into a highly functional area that seamlessly integrates with the home’s flow.
